In my opinion it is not rocket science. The first thing to ensure is that your website is designed to a high standard and that it is optimised for SEO purposes for the sites main key phrases. It is then a case of obtaining links pointing to it. These links should have different link texts which even though different will always include your keyword. For example if the keyword is stuttering the link text could be, stuttering therapy, stuttering info, stuttering treatment, stop stuttering or stuttering advice. For a door company it could be composite front doors, upvc doors or front doors and for copywriting it could be freelance copywriter.
You can obtain a 1-way link or a reciprocal link. It is OK to obtain these types of backward links as long as you also manage to also gain 1-way links pointing to your site/s as well. This is not a good idea and it is not exactly the best form of link building, you might well even be penalised by the search engines for doing this.
Reciprocal Links
It is very natural for a website to have many reciprocal links as long as they also have lots of one way links. This can be a very slow and painful process plus rather frustrating. A link building service can be of benefit here.
One Way Links
Where possible it is of far greater benefit to obtain a one way link. Some people choose to purchase a link on a high ranking page of a website as it can be difficult to persuade a webmaster to include your link for no reason or benefit to them.
For me the best way of obtaining one way backward links is by writing articles like the one you are reading. If you do not have the time to write your own articles you could outsource the task to a SEO article writing service. People are able to use these articles on their websites thus creating a one way link.
